Monsoon’d
I finally ventured out after having phoned Megan. The hotel phone is a bit complicated (for me anyway) and it involved a lot of people several knocks on my door telling me what to do and a couple of trips to reception. I got to the bottom of the road, which is the main road (I believe/hope it’s Prahbat Road). I was looking for an internet cafe or food. Unfortunatly just as I got to the main road the rain came and I got monsoon’d. I kept walking anyway, thinking maybe I’ll find a shop with umbrellas, I never did, but I found a shop with a drawing of one on the window. I kept walking for ages, crossing some pretty scary roads but never did find an internet cafe, even after asking for directions – but I think they were making things up. There were loads of places to get food, some smelled really good, but the menus were all in Mahrati and I didn’t feel too confident in working out what was going on, so I just waited until I got back to the hotel and got a sandwhich. I think I’m still full after Qatars 5 star restuarant in the sky!
Anyway, tommorow I’m going to try find Shelters office and visit them, meet Megan and hopefully borrow some internet so I can post this and email everyone to say I’ve arrived. I also need to figure out how to get an Indian sim card, and start working on getting actual accomodation for the next 3 months.
I’ve wrote a fair bit today, which will probably not be a very common thing so don’t get used to it! Once I figure out whats going on and get out of the hotel maybe I won’t have so much time to sit and write gibberish.
